Milton Resnick: Painter in the Age of Painting, titled after the newly published biography by Geoffrey Dorfman, brings together early paintings with work made near the end of Resnick’s life. The exhibition displays the breadth of Resnick’s practice while illustrating the biography’s story of the painter’s distinctly impressive career.

Dorfman’s richly illustrated book follows Resnick’s life from his birth in Bratslav, Ukraine, in 1917, through his experiences during the second World War, his time in Paris, and his eight decades in New York. Taking paintings from as early as 1946 and as late as 2003, this exhibition stands with the biography to chart the painter’s career as an abstract expressionist in one of the most significant periods of art in America.
